Torx-heavy: bodywork, brake discs and many chassis bolts. T25–T45 as bits plus T50/T55 as sockets covers most jobs.

Before you pack
- — The OEM tool kit is famously inadequate — riders universally rebuild it. Add real Torx drivers and a proper axle tool.
- — Boxer and most K/R models are shaft-drive: no chain tools, but carry a small bottle of the correct final-drive oil on very long trips.
- — GS spoked wheels are tubeless (cross-spoke) — a plug kit works; the cast-wheel road bikes are tubeless too.
- — F-series and G310 are chain-drive, so chain tools come back into the kit.

Torx bit set — T25, T30, T40, T45
European bikes (and Harley's T27) use Torx everywhere from bodywork to brake discs; a hex key will chew the head.
Small vise grips / locking pliers
Becomes the lever, clamp or replacement gear lever you no longer have. Also clamps a split fuel line shut.
