Commute / city

Road touring
Tarmac days, motels and mileage. Tubeless repair, electrics and consumables matter most.
Adventure touring
Mixed tarmac and gravel with luggage. You must be able to pull a wheel and fix a tire yourself.

Brand-aware, not brand-agnostic
Japanese bikes use JIS cross-head screws that a Phillips driver destroys. Most Harleys are inch-sized, not metric. BMW, KTM and Triumph are Torx-first. The builder adjusts the list to whatever you ride.
Weight budget, honestly
Every item carries a realistic weight, and the builder totals it against what your chosen carrying method can actually take, so you can cut before the ride rather than at the trailhead.
Tube or tubeless changes everything
A plug kit is useless on a tubed spoked wheel, and levers plus a spare tube are dead weight on a tubeless cast wheel. Tell the builder which you have.
